Vaughan is a multicultural city associated with growing communities such as Concord, Kleinburg, Maple, Thornhill and Woodbridge. It is located in York Region, north of Toronto, Ontario, which is the fastest growing municipality in Canada. According to recent statistics Canada as nearly doubled in population since 1991. Vaughan is the largest city in Canada without a hospital within its city boundaries. The nearest full-service hospital facilities are MacKenzie Health (Hospital), to the east in Richmond Hill and Humber Region Hospital, to the south in Toronto. There is also a new hospital proposal along Major Mackenzie Drive (between Highway 400 and Jane Street). Construction is likely to begin in 2013.
York University is a major university which lies on the Toronto side of the Toronto-Vaughan border, with more than 50,000 students enrolled through ten different faculties. It is easily accessible through public transportation or just a short drive away.
